A New York Congressman and Chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, Fillmore seeks information regarding a Revolutionary War officer, possibly on behalf of a constituent: "Enclosed I send you a commission from the Continental Congress to Seth Murry as Capt. in the Army, together with a letter, or rather part of a letter, from Judge Love, my predecessor, making certain inquiries in reference to the right of the heirs of Capt. Murry under said commission. I do not known to what office I should apply for the information which he desires and I therefore enclose it you hoping that if I am not right, you will give it a proper direction; that I may obtain the desired information...". With a bust-length print of Fillmore.
