Fine Carved Emerald, the large hexagonal emerald carved with a Mughal flower motif, measuring approx. 35.10 x 41.40 x 10.48 mm, within a platinum-topped gold mount bead-set with rose-cut diamonds. Provenance: According to family history, the emerald was owned by art collector Emily Crane Chadbourne (1871-1964). After her divorce in 1905, Chadbourne moved to Europe where she began to extensively collect European and Asian art. Upon her return to the United States in the 1920s, Chadbourne donated much of her collection to the Art Institute of Chicago. The emerald has descended within the family. Note: Accompanied by AGL document no. 1091355, dated April 10, 2018, stating that the emerald is Colombian, insignificant to minor traditional clarity enhancement, with an accompanying letter.
