Fine Early Victorian Mahogany Metamorphic "Jupe" Dining Table, c. 1840-50, with radiating top formed with pie-slice type leaves, with central brass medallion stamped "Johnstone, Jeanes & Co., 67 New Bond Street, London," opening to accomodate three separate sets of leaves, each numbered 1 through 8 to conform with numbers stamped on the base, all on five baluster-turned circular pedestals resting upon an X-form base applied with circular roundels, ht. 28 1/2; dia. closed 68, with smallest leaves 81, with second set of leaves 86 1/2, fully extended 89 in. Provenance: By repute, Fort Belvedere, Surrey, Great Britain, a royal residence from 1750-1976. Fort Belvedere is known for being the home of King Edward VIII.
