Lot of 8: 3 cabinet cards copyrighted 1882 by Bailey, Dix & Mead, Fort Randall, DT, each with printed identification, biography, and information relative to this series of cabinet cards on verso. Subjects include Sitting Bull (No. 1 from series); Steps (No. 3); and One Bull (No. 7). Images in very fine condition. Mounts curved upward. 2 cabinet cards with verso imprint of D.F. Barry, Bismarck and Standing Rock, DT, including a portrait of Chief Gall and an outdoor view ink identified as a "Ghost Dance." Corner/edge wear to mount of Chief Gall portrait. Damage along top edge of "Ghost Dance" photograph, image has lightened a bit. Some surface wear to mount. Cabinet card of Yellow Dog, verso credit to "Haynes' Palace Studio Car, Branch Studio, Yellowstone Park / Studio and Publishing House, St. Paul." Image has lightened a bit, but is in very good condition. Cabinet card of Rain-in-the-Face credited to Geo. W. Scott, Fort Yates, Dakota. Applied paper label on verso identifies the subject in period ink as "Head Chief, Dakota Sioux, Custer Massacre, 1876, Little Big Horn, MT." Some soiling to image. Smudge in top right corner. Corner wear to mount. Cabinet card credited to Copelin, Chicago, identified on verso as "Elizabeth Winyan," a Dakota Indian and missionary. Toning to image and mount, with some surface soiling. Crease in top right corner of print/mount.
