Title: First-day issue, Augusta National Golf Club postal envelope Author: Augusta National Golf Club Place: Augusta, GA Publisher: Augusta National Golf Club Date: 1933 Description: 3¾x6¾" commemorative postal envelope for the Augusta National Golf Club, Robert T. (Bobby) Jones Course, grand opening, January 13, 1933, Augusta, Georgia. With a drawing printed and lettered in green. Postmarked January 13, 1933 (opening day). Type addressed to Mr. Carl H. Groff, New Holland, PA. Scarce golf ephemera / first-day cover. Bobby Jones and golf architect legend, Dr. Alistair Mackenzie designed the course. Construction began in 1931. Official Championship play began as the Augusta National Invitational Tournament, but now known as The Masters. Also, with a blank receipt from A.B. Groff & Sons / Pratts Poultry and Animal Remedies with color lithographed letterhead, laid inside envelope. Lot Amendments Condition: Light handling and age wear, else near fine. Item number: 174208
