[xii], 145, [7] pp. Nine copper-engraved plates, five folding. (8vo) 19.1x11.1 cm (7½x4½"), near contemporary full paneled calf, black morocco label, gilt rules and lettering. Second Edition. Second edition, corrected and enlarged from the first of 1703. Maundrell was stationed in Aleppo from 1696 to 1701 as chaplain of the Levant Company. His account of Baalbeck and Palmyra are the first such descriptions by an Englishman. Engraved armorial bookplate of Colonel Cooper on front pastedown.
