First edition. With large engr. heraldic plate on title and 62 nearly fullpage engr. portraits in the text, depicting French kings from the 5th to the 16th century. Later half vellum. - Partly slightly stained and browned, especially on the first pages, with few marginal annotations by an old hand, title page somewhat soiled, one leaf reinforced on verso in the margin, front hinge slightly going. Erste Ausgabe. - Schöne Porträtfolge von fränkischen Herrschern, beginnend mit Faramund, dem sagenhaften König der Merowinger, bis Heinrich III. von Valois. Unterhalb der von reichem Füllwerk umgebenen Medaillons mit den Porträts zeigt jeweils eine kleine Kartusche bemerkenswerte Ereignisse aus der Regierungszeit der einzelnen Herrscher. - Von den nicht durchgehend monogrammierten Kupfern schreibt Becker 20 Virgil Solis zu und die übrigen J. Amman. - Tlw. leicht fleckig und gebräunt, zu Beginn stärker, mit vereinz. hs. Marginalien, Titel etw. angeschmutzt, ein Blatt im Rand verso verstärkt, vord. Innengelenk gelockert.
