First Opium War The Opium Trade The Start of the Troubles 1839 (15 June) Opium Surrender Certificate; Register number 30 of 37 to Daniel (Dickson) and Company for 67 chests of Malwa, signed by A.B. Johnston, Deputy Superintendent and bearing a very good strike of the "superintendents of british trade in china" royal coat of arms in oval struck in red. There are further annotations with regard to other payments. A very rare and highly desirable document. Also two newspaper clippings from 1839 (23 May) being a translation of Lin's official circular which list ten opium dealers. However by the benevolence of the Great Emperor and the surrender of the opium from the store ships the punishment was that these dealers be banished from China and return to their own countries. The second clippings a list of the amount of opium delivered at Canton, with quantities against each merchant business 1839年6月15日鴉片繳出證書: 向 Daniel (Dickson) and Company 登記 37 件中的第 30 件, 登記 67 箱 Malwa, 由 A.B.約翰斯頓副警司, 蓋了完好的戳印: “英國在華貿易監督員” 紅色橢圓形皇家徽章. 還有關於其他付款的進一步註釋. 一份非常罕見且非常受重要的文件. 還有兩份 1839 年(5 月 23 日) 的剪報是林則徐的官方通告的翻譯, 其中列出了十個鴉片經銷商. 然而由於皇上的仁慈和從商店船隻上交出鴉片, 懲罰僅是這些毒販被驅逐出中國並返回自己的國家. 第二張剪報列出了在廣州貿易的鴉片數量, 以及每個鴉片商家的存貨數量.
