Black. 5½x7½", original binding of decorative boards and tape spine. Also includes: Boatner, Edward, editor. Spirituals Triumphant, Old and New. Revised and Enlarged. Nashville: Sunday School Publishing Board, National Baptist Convention, c. 1927. Approx. 88 pages. Original wrappers. James Fuld in his 1971 World-Famous Music, calls this the first known publication of the famous Black spiritual, with “words and music quite similar to those in the present form”. According to Fuld, this is the first public printing of “When the Saints Go Marching In”, with the music and lyrics in its modern form, as well as the first printing of both words and music of “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hand[s]”.
