Title: Five letters from Edgar Rice Burroughs to Roy B. Van Devier, responding to inquiries about his books and writings Author: Burroughs, Edgar Rice Place: Van Nuys & Reseda, California Publisher: Date: 1920-1929 Description: Typed letters signed by Burroughs in ink, on his letterhead, each with original stamped envelope. Brief missives in answer to comments about Burroughs' books, and queries about forthcoming books and stories, addressed to Van Devier at several Ohio locales. Includes: December 1st, 1920. States "there will be a new Tarzan book out, probably next spring," and that "there will probably soon be a fifteen episode serial of The Son of Tarzan ready for the screen." (Punch-holes in left margin.) January 18th, 1921. Predicts the next Tarzan book, called Tarzan the Terrible, will be out the latter part of the spring, and "I am writing another Mars story for publication in the fall." (Punch-holes in left margin; large chip in lower margin not affecting text or signature.) Feb. 9, 1922. In part, "I cannot say when there will be another Mars or Tarzan book published, nor when The Efficiency Expert with be in book form..." (1¼" tear in at lower left edge not affecting text or signature.) February 12, 1933. "...The sequel to At the Earth's Core has already been written and will, I presume, be published in the Fall of 1923 or the Spring of 1924..." (Punch-holes in left margin.) December 9, 1929. "...It is impossible to tell at this time when The Apache Devil will appear in book form - that is up to my publishers..." Lot Amendments Condition: Very good to fine condition. Item number: 289004
