Plate for a nice unknown copy of a print by Johannes Sadeler (ca. 1550-after Peter de Witte's (ca. 1546-painting (cf. Hollstein XXI.114.206). An impression of the original print is in Amsterdam (Rijksmuseum, inv. RP-P-OB-7881). Our copy is slightly smaller without the floor at bottom. The signature and numerous testing lines of the burin on the verso suggest this might be a practice plate by the young Aegidius Sadeler II (1568-after his uncle Johannes. Ref.
