FLORENCE -- W. MORITZ (artist) and others. An album of aquatint views of Florence and Pisa. [?Florence: ca 1840]. Oblong 2° (235 x 324mm). 30 fine hand-coloured aquaint views after Moritz and others, each view with a thick black-ink rule border, margins with opaque grey wash. (The first plate a trifle creased at outer margin.) Contemporary green half morocco gilt (extremities a trifle scuffed). Provenance : R. & L. Garnett (two signatures). A fine series, delightfully presented in a style reminiscent of Hamilton's Campi Phlegraei . 28 of the views are of Florence and its environs and the two final plates are of Pisa. The opaque margins have obscured the names of the majority of the artists and etchers.
