FLOWN Apollo 11 Commemorative Postal Cover. Approx. 3.5 x 6.5 in. envelope postmarked on 11 August 1969 at Webster, TX. EXTREMELY RARE, THE MOST DESIRABLE OF THE FLOWN APOLLO COVERS, WITH THE EMBLEM DESIGN IN THE MOST DEMAND. The Apollo 11 crew carried a limited number of postal covers on their historic lunar landing mission. This cover has the Apollo 11 mission emblem cachet. The crew and all items carried on the flight were quarantined until 11 August to prevent possible contamination from "Moon germs". The covers could not be postmarked until release which is indicated with a hand-stamp that reads: "Delayed in quarantine at Lunar Receiving Laboratory, M.S.C. - Houston, Texas". SIGNED BY NEIL ARMSTRONG, MICHAEL COLLINS AND INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY BUZZ ALDRIN: "EEA-29, Carried to the Moon on Apollo 11. [With:] Typed letter signed by Buzz Aldrin on his personal stationery that allows the envelope to be mounted between paragraphs describing the Apollo 11 mission and the postal cover. (2)
