FLOWN ON APOLLO 13 – A silver Robbins Medallion struck for Apollo 13, bearing serial number 174, April 1970. A flown Apollo 13 Robbins Medallion. The obverse bears the mission emblem of three horses above the moon designed by artist Lumen Winter. The reverse notes the mission start and end dates (11 to 17 April 1970) as well as the names of the crew of Apollo 13. Because Jack Swigert was assigned to the mission only a week before launch, replacing Ken Mattingly, who had come down with the measels, the set of medallions struck for the Apollo 13 Mission flew with Swigert's, rather than Mattingly's name. Following the mission the flown Robbins Medallions were melted down and re-struck with the correct names. Sterling silver, 1.25 inches in diameter. [With:] Fred Haise's typed and signed letter of provenance dated 15 May 2019.
