FLOWN ON APOLLO 13 – Lunar Module systems data book schematic sheet, with autograph annotations by Haise, 11-17 April 1970. An important flown reference for the Apollo 13 emergency: an electrical schematic referenced by Fred Haise as he worked to preserve sufficient power for the critical rocket burns needed to return the crew to Earth This is a flown Apollo 13 systems data sheet used and annotated ten times by Fred Haise prior to the mission. It depicts the routing for electrical power for both the ascent and descent stages of the Lunar Module. The LM, called Aquarius , essentially functioned as the crew's lifeboat after the explosion. In his letter of provenance, Haise stresses that the " sheet was an important reference tool because of the oxygen tank explosion in the Service Module which occurred some 56 hours into our flight to the Moon . "The revised flight plan " involved several rocket burns using Aquarius’ descent engine, which of course needed electrical power. We had to conserve this power for those engine burns and to make sure we had sufficient amount left to travel all the way back to Earth. James Lovell Jack Swigert, and I were able to safely return with the assistance of the NASA and contractor teams ." One single folded sheet, 10.5 by 36.5 inches with paper tab taped to right margin. Annotations and notes in red ink. [With:] Fred Haise's typed and signed letter of provenance dated 15 May 2019.
