SUPERB PORT SHIPPED DIRECT FROM FONSECA Lots 1- to 180 are excellent Vintage Ports from lodge reserves in Vila Nova de Gaia. All wines have lain undisturbed in the Gaia cellars after bottling. Samples were checked and tasted for approval by the Cellarmaster before being released especially for this unique auction. Some large formats have never before been released for sale. Now lying in Corsham, Wiltshire (Octavian) Offered in bond, available duty-paid Fonseca 1960 In original wooden six-bottle cases Tasting note: Pale russet colour with a broad amber rim. The nose is complex, mellow and seductive. A rich infusion of figs and creamy toffee is overlaid with evocative spice-souk aromas and notes of tobacco, cedar and exotic hardwood. Smooth and silky on the palate, combining rich treacly flavour with an impression of lightness and finesse. Wonderfully opulent flavours emerge on the finish, revealing unexpected nuances as they gradually recede. A magical Vintage Port with a flawless harmony, remarkable in a wine now over half a century old. 12 bottles per lot
