Large folio, contemporary French straight-grained red half morocco gilt and red paper sides, in the style of Tessier, joints neatly strengthened at top and bottom, very small dampstain in extreme lower corner, plates 69 to 75 and 79 & 80 foxed . FIRST EDITION, one of 325 copies, half-title, 80 lighographed, sepia aquatint or engraved plates and plans, the lithographs after Castellan, Deseynes, Fragonard, Isabey, Legros, Thinon, Carle and Horace Vernet and others, by G. Engelmann, the 8 aquatints after Forbin by Debucourt. Blackmer 614 ("one of the first important French books to use lithography on a grand scale"); Colas 1089; Rhricht 1660; Tobler, pp. 144-145; not in Gay. An excellent copy.
