FORMERLY THE PROPERTY OF FRANK AND BARBARA SINATRA 1976 ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER SHADOW Chassis No. SRE 24513 Peacock blue with cream leather interior with blue piping Engine: V8 overhead valve, 6,750cc, 411ci, c220bhp; Gearbox: three- speed automatic; Suspension: fully independent with automatic hydraulic height control system; Brakes: disc brakes all around. Left hand drive. The first cars built by Rolls-Royce with monocoque construction were the Silver Shadow and T-Series Bentley. The conventional chassis frame was replaced by a front sub-assembly and a rear sub-assembly for the back axle and suspension. Power was from the 6.2 litre, eight-cylinder, light alloy engine whilst other features such as hydraulic disc brakes, and an improved power-assisted steering system which ensured that the new model was mechanically very up-to-date. Although the car did not have any sporting pretentions it was still quite swift and, as always, accommodated four passengers in great style and comfort. Latterly, the engine displacment was increased to 6,750cc by lengthening the stroke. This Silver Shadow sedan was purchased by the current owner from Frank Sinatra, who bought the car as a wedding present to his wife, Barbara. Kitty Kelly writes about the car in the book, His Way , on page 439. This remarkable four-door Silver Shadow is perfect for stylish trips into the city or country, and comfortably seats five people. This celebrity vehicle has a little over 20,000 miles recorded from new. There is a complete record of all service history up to 1991 when the car had 18,207 miles. Installed in the car is a Kenwood casette, radio and graphic equalizer. There is a small dent in the left front wing, but there is no other body damage. The paint is in highly presentable condition despite a few minor shrink marks, and features pinstriping on either side of the decorative chrome strip. The chromework is in good condition, and the engine bay is clean. The car is said to be the shade of blue which matches Barbara Sinatra's eyes. There are a few scratches in the base of the steering wheel possibly caused by her diamond ring! The car retains an authorized vehicle sticker on the windshield for use at the Palm Springs municipal airport due to Frank and Barbara's frequent traveling. The interior is exceptional with cream leather and blue piping, and the interior wood is also in fine condition. The car comes complete with tapes of Frank Sinatra singing so you can feel as if he and Barbara are in the car driving down the road with you
