Letter written aboard the steamboat Trident, with much detail. 3.5 large pages, 7.75 x 13 in., dated at Fort Gibson, 29 Aug. 1840, addressed to Joseph Brearley, Postmaster, Dardennelles, AR. The author writes that he has been traveling on Trident since the 9th, and has made it to...Ft Smith, about half my journey. The river has fallen so much when got to this place, I have been in one of the small river boats. It could not have proceeded further for lack of water. He writes of Capt. Rogers, and Doc Wharton. Condition: Partial separation at folds.
