FOUR JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINTS BY TSUKIOKA YOSHITOSHI (1839-1892) MEIJI PERIOD, CIRCA 1888 The four oban tate-e from the series Fuzoku sanjuni so (Thirty-two Aspects of Customs and Manners of Women), comprising: a beauty leaning over a balustrade, entitled 'Amused: Habits of a high-ranking lady-in-waiting of the Bunsei era'; a courtesan wearing an elaborate headdress, entitled 'Feminine: Habits of a keisei of the Tempo era'; a beauty holding an umbrella in a snow storm, entitled 'Frozen: Habits of a geisha of the Nakamuchi district of Fukagawa in the Tempo era'; the fourth the portrait of a woman carrying a tray of food, entitled 'Heavy: Habits of a waitress in the licensed quarters at Fukagawa in the Tempo era', each print approx. 24cm x 36cm.
