FOUR LACQUER INRO EDO PERIOD (18TH AND 19TH CENTURY) A group of four, comprising a four-case inro decorated in iro-e takamaki-e with a parody of the battle at Ichinotani, with warriors coming down the slope and boats of battling oni in the sea, interior cases nashiji ; a four-case inro decorated with a roundels of landscapes in gold and silver within a raised red lacquer diaperwork frame, fitted with a netsuke and ojime ; a two-case inro decorated with gold vines and red flowers on a black and gold ground, the interior cases nashiji and fitted with a wood snail-and-fruit netsuke and a bead ojime ; and a four-case inro , signed Bunryusai and sealed, rendered in gold with a courtier in exile watching the sails of distant boats, the interior cases nashiji , fitted with a lacquered wood netsuke of fan form signed Shoo saku --2 3/8 to 3in.
