The frame is a large ornate oval wooden gilt colored frame. On the verso, there is a dark colored note saying that this painting of President John Adams was restored and is dated 1897. At the top, bottom, left and right sides of the frame are several carved flowers. Normal wear is present on the frame, while the canvas depicts craquelure and some warping.
