Francisci de Insulis, M. Quodlibet de veritate fraternitatis rosarii BMV. Köln, Arnold ter Hoernen, 1480. 4to (21,2:14,8 cm). Got. Typ. Mit Hervorhebungen sowie 2-4 zeiligen eingemalten Anfangsinitialen, alles in Rot. 26 nn. Bll. Lederband d. 20. Jhdts. mit goldgepr. Rückentitel. Hain 13664; GW 10260; BMC I, 207; Voullième, Köln 427. - Eine um drei päpstliche Bullen zugunsten der Rosenkranzbruderschaft erweiterte Ausgabe. Die Kölner Bruderschaft wurde 1475 vom Autor der Schrift sowie von Jakob Sprenger gegründet, der als Inquisitor gegen magische Praktiken vorging und lange als Mitverfasser des berüchtigten "Malleus maleficarum" galt. Francisci (ca. 1435-1502, auch Michel François bzw. Michael Franzen) trat 1453/1454 in den Dominikanerorden ein und lebte von 1468-1482 in Köln. - Kaum fleckiges breitrandiges Exemplar. Early and enlarged edition, included in this edition for the first time 3 important papal bulls in favor of the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary (cf GW.). - 26 ll. Fine copy with some initials in red ink and rubrications. - Minor fingerstaining in places. Broad-margined copy in 20th. russia, title lettered to spine.
