French artists and caricatures.- Giraud (Eugène Pierre François, 1806-1881) and others. Album of seventeen drawings and caricatures, four signed by Giraud, with several others not signed but appear to be by the same hand, including two studies of "Ct. de Montbreton", possibly the French politician and writer Jacques Marquet de Montbreton, baron de Norvins (1769-1854), a caricature of Eugene Giraud on horseback, a caricature of René Eustache d'Osmond (1751-1838), a caricature of Giraud playing Blind Mans Bluff, and others, pencil on wove papers, several dated '1835', neatly mounted on album leaves, all but three are inscribed with details below on leaf, some leaves missing, occasional spotting and surface dirt, oblong 4to, very worn, [c. 1830s] Provenance: Traditionally understood to be: ex-collection of Auguste Caron (b. 1806)
