[French] Follower of CALLOT, Jacques Festival on market square. Ca. 1620-Etching, 25,5 x 32,2 cm, laid paper with watermark (mountains; not in Bricquet), unsigned (foxing, two old repairs at upper edge, repaired tear at left edge, horizontal folding line at centre). Under passe-partout. Extremely rare anonymous etching depicting an Italian town square with at its centre a palazzo decorated with frescoes. As the figures on the right foreground are barely visible, it is possibly a proof impression. The general stage-like composition and elongated figures recalls the Italian etchings in the oeuvre of Jacques Callot The only known copy.
