Her gaiety and animation made her a great favorite of the king. In 1711, an outbreak of smallpox brought about her and her husband's death, leaving the elderly King with only one great-grandson, the future Louis XV, as his heir. C
The vellum support is mounted on a piece of heavy paper, which is in turn mounted on the backing panel. So abrasion around the edges; a few miniscule spots, possibly tiny ink spatters. Colors extremely fresh and bright.
