An extremely fine and rare 18K three colour gold and enamel musical singing bird box, the enamel in the manner of Jean-François-Victor Dupont The movement stamped FR for Frères Rochat and numbered 338, the case stamped IC for Joly & Chenevard, circa 1815 Gilt-finished chain fusée movement with cylindrical bellows for the singing bird automaton, controlled by a stack of 8 cams, entirely engine-turned geometrical and floral decorated rectangular-shaped box with rounded corners, raised three colour gold scroll and foliage decorated top, corners and bottom, the hinged oval lid with finely painted polychrome enamel miniature depicting Susanna and the Elders in the manner of Jean-François-Victor Dupont, opening to reveal the singing bird and a gold engraved grill, activated on request, the bird set with realistic multi-coloured feathers rotating on its axis, flapping its wings and tail and turning its head, in time to a realistically imitated bird song, when the song has finished the bird will automatically retreat inside the box and the lid will close, hinged panel to the back revealing the key compartment, lever to front panel to activate the singing bird mechanism, movement plate stamped FR for Frères Rochat and numbered 338, case stamped IC for Joly & Chenevard 79 x 54 x 26 mm.
