Contemporary blue cloth over marbled boards by Welzen of Leiden with ticket, spine ruled and lettered in gilt (neatly rebacked preserving the original spine, small repairs to rear endpaper). Provenance : Cor Kars (bookplate, pencilled marginalia) -- early bookseller's description on front pastedown. FIRST EDITION OF 'UNQUESTIONABLY FREUD'S GREATEST SINGLE WORK' (PMM). 'It contains all the basic components of psychoanalytic theory and practice: the erotic nature of dreams, the "oedipus complex", the libido, and the rest; all related to the ... sub-conscious' (PMM).
