from the short reign of Henry IV, all in Latin, on parchment [Yorkshire, West Riding, dated 1405-10] Three charters: (a) grant by Nicholas de Ottley to Robert, son of John Clerk “capellanus” of land in Ottley, 12 lines in an angular but legible secretarial hand, most of green wax seal with squirrel enclosed within inscription, 127+20 by 225mm, dated 4 October 1405; (b) grant by Henry de Merebek of Menston to John Glynson of the same, of all his estates in Menston, 9 lines of secretarial hand, black wax seal with same squirrel seal (now complete, but somewhat worn) attached with tags taken from another document from same archive (mentioning John de Hawkesworth), 90+20 by 275mm., dated 7 December 1410; quitclaim of William Pykerd of Menston for Henry de Merebeck of all rights and lands in Menston, 8 lines of secretarial hand, black wax seal attached with tags taken from another document, 55+13 by 265mm., dated 31 January 1406; some spots and small holes, else good condition
