GAUDIER-BRZESKA, Henri [H. Gaudier-Brzeska 1891-1915]. London, The Ovid Press, [Folio: [f.-pl. Loose under publ. illustrated portfolio (sl. brown., traces of red ties, flap of the lower cover lacking). Good copy. 1st posthumous printing of drawings from the "Note-Books" of the artist in the possession of Ezra Pound. H. Gaudier-Brzeska (1891-was a French artist and sculptor. In he settled in England and "fell in with the Vorticism movement of Ezra Pound and Wyndham Lewis becoming a founding member of the London Group" (Wikipedia); he was killed in battle in France in June Edition limited to copies on thin Japan paper (n. 192). 1st f. illustrated with a small woodcut by Edward Wadsworth The Ovid Press, a private press founded by John Rodker (1894-1955), flourished c. 1919-but published several central figures of modernist literature or art as T.S. Eliot, J. Joyce, W. Lewis E. Pound, etc. Ref. Yale Center for British Art (= Tomkison, G.S., Modern presses, p. - Ransom, W., Private presses, p. 373).
