George Eberhard Rumphius is best known for his authorship of Herbarium Amboinense , published posthumously in 1741 (Rumpf, Georg E, and Johannes Burman. Herbarium Amboinense: 1 . Amsterodamum u.a, 1741. Print). The work consisted of six large folio volumes presenting a catalogue of the plants of the island of Amboina in modern-day Indonesia.
