GEORGE CHAPMAN four prints - including rare etching proof of graveyard, etching of two head portraits, copy of a preliminary drawing with annotations and another, various sizes Provenance: by descent from the artist Comments: two framed, one mounted, one loose Please note that this lot may be subject to Droit de Suite at 4% of the hammer price (Please see terms / enquire)Later Notes: [top left] Commissioned by Camberwell, see above 1980. The print is called “Trehafod”. This is an annotated working proof.[top right] A good drawing made in situ as a study for a painting, about 1958.[lower left] This is a very early and rare proof of an etching and aquatint, It is titled “Trehafod” and dates from about 1954. VERY few of these are in existence.[lower right] Title: “A Miner and his Wife”. Etching. Megan and Llewelyn whom George befriended in the valleys. He’d sit on the kerbside drawing and she’d come out with a tray of tea and Welsh cakes.
