Author: Williamson, George C. & Henry Engleheart Place: No place Publisher: Privately Printed Date: 1902 Description: xviii, 176 pp. Numerous inserted full-page plates, including 10 hand-painted illustrations. (4to) 32x25 cm (12½x9¾") original tan linen, facsimile signature in gilt on front, titled in gilt on spine. Copy number 5 of 6. First Edition. One of only six copies printed on Japan Vellum. Holograph limitation, signed by the author, on verso of front flyleaf. George Engleheart (1750–1829) was one of the greatest English painters of portrait miniatures, and a contemporary of Richard Cosway John Smart William Wood and Richard Crosse Engleheart painted George III twenty-five times, and had a very extensive circle of patrons, comprising nearly all the important persons connected with the court. Bookplate of Samuel W. French. Lot Amendments Condition: Some foxing to the linen binding and a bit to the page edges, light wear; very good. Item number: 260284
