(George Gordon Noel, Lord).- Hobhouse (John Cam, Baron Broughton) A Journey through Albania...to Constantinople, 2 vol., second edition, with engraved frontispiece, folding map of Hellespontine Phrygia, one facsimile, 2 leaves of musical notation and 8 hand-coloured aquatints of costumes and views only (of 25 in total, lacking map of Albania, one facsimile and 10 plates), some folding, engraved plate of Turkish bath loosely inserted from another copy, directions to binder leaf loose, some light browning and offsetting, 4I soiled and with small hole affecting a couple of letters, contemporary half calf, spine gilt with roan labels (one chipped), rubbed, [Abbey Travel 202; cf.Atabey 584 & Blackmer 821, first editions], 4to, 1813; sold not subject to return *** John Cam Hobhouse, Baron Broughton (1786-1869), politician and friend of Byron who accompanied him on this journey to Constantinople. Hobhouse later acted as Byron's executor.
