Beschreibung:

George III, King of England (1730-1820), Autograph letter signed, September 7th, 1786, one page, to Frederick the Great, in French, expressing his approval for the recent actions taken (in the formation of the Furstenbund), and pledges his continued support, (very good). Note: As a result of the machinations of Joseph II of Austria, Frederick the Great formed, on the 23rd of July 1785, a confederation of German princes (Furstenbund) for the purpose of opposing the threatened preponderance of Austria. Prussia was thus for the first time formally recognized as the protector of the German states against Austrian ambition, and had at the same time become the centre of an anti-Austrian alliance, which embraced Sweden, Poland and the maritime powers.
