GLENNIE, John David (1796-1874). Views on the Continent. London: C.Hullmandel, 1841. 2° (481 x 345mm). Mounted on guards throughout. Hand-coloured lithographic title, lithographic dedication to the Marchioness of Westminster, 30 hand-coloured lithographic views on 25 leaves, by Glennie, printed by Hullmandel. (Light browning to upper blank margin of plate titled 'Poperingue'.) Later half-moroco, spine gilt (light scuffing to extremities). A striking series of Swiss and Italian alpine views, including a fine view of Geneva. The quality of the hand-colouring is excellent, although, apparently, the work was not issued with the plates coloured. A companion volume (Abbey Travel 40) of the Drachenfels and the Rhine from Godesberg was issued in 1849. Not in Abbey or Tooley.
