A Cosway-style binding in 20th-century dark blue morocco gilt for Chas. J. Sawyer of London, upper cover with inset original oval portrait miniature of Goldsmith after ?Sir Joshua Reynolds the miniature surrounded with gilt-tooled decoration of stylised flowers on scrolling foliage, the flower-heads tooled onto yellow or red morocco onlays, all within an outer border of a single fillet, the lower cover with single fillet outer border, the spine in six compartments with raised bands, lettered in the second, the others with repeat overall decoration employing the same coloured onlays and motifs as the upper cover, gilt turn-ins, marbled-paper endleaves.
