(8¾x6"), dark blue-green cloth, lettered in light green, red-orange stamped vignette on the front cover, top edge stained green, original jacket with color pictorial front cover. First Edition. Inscribed and signed by the author with his initials: “Dear George. Hope you may like the book. My very best wished for your continued success. G.C.T. Jr.” in blue ink on half-title verso. First Edition complete in the rare dust jacket. George C. Thomas, Jr. was one of the leading figures in golf course architecture's Golden Age, among greats like Donald Ross and A.W. Tillinghast. "One of the outstanding books on golf course architecture having the added attraction, as a book, of being handsomely produced" - Murdoch 767; D&M 36690; D&J T7730. Lot Amendments Condition: A 1½" chip out of jacket spine's head, chipped along edges, three other ½" chips out of jacket edges, some short tears, especially to spine's heel, a few small spots of soiling; light marks to volume; very good volume in a good jacket.
