Title: Golf in Perth and Perthshire: Traditional, Historical, Modern Author: Baxter, Peter Place: Perth, Scotland Publisher: Thomas Hunter Date: 1899 Description: [6], 184 pp. A few wood-engraved headpieces. 8x5½, original printed wrappers on tan-cream paper, stamped in red-orange. First Edition. Baxter (1866-1936) was one of the original members of St. Johnstone F.C. He wrote at length of such golf luminaries as Tom Morris, Rev. J.G. McPherson, Allan Robertson, Col. Boothby, and various clubmakers. He was the Magistrate of Perth from 1921 to 1936, and was particularly interested in the recreational facilities of the city and South Insch as a sports center; he spent much time researching local history and wrote a number of volumes on Perth. Murdoch 48; D&M 650; D&J B9280. Lot Amendments Condition: Mild darkening to spine, a few scattered small light stains to exterior, slight edge wear; contents clean; near fine. Cornerstone golf book; wrappers issue rarely seen in this nice of condition, certainly the best copy PBA has offered to date! Item number: 190346
