Richter, list of plates, (numeral inked in upper blank margin of text leaf facing each plate). Contemporary full green morocco, sides with broad gilt borders, spine gilt in 6 compartments, g.e. (joints very slightly rubbed) FINE PRESENTATION COPY OF THE SECOND REVISED AND EXPANDED EDITION. The fly-leaf bears an autograph inscription in ink Mrs. Muskett, Christmas present from her father John Gould Christmas 1869 . At this date only the first two parts of the work had appeared, so Gould must have added the last two parts when they were published in 1875. This edition contains eleven more plates than the first edition of 1838 and the author states in the Preface "...although I entitle this work a second edition of the Trogonidae, it is in reality a new publication, all the plates having been redrawn, and many new species figured for the first time..."
