(Cuttings taped inside front cover and on front free endpaper.) Original publisher's green cloth, lettered in gilt on upper cover and spine (hinges weak), t.e.g., others uncut. FIRST EDITION. Sharpe's comprehensive work is an indispsensable companion volume to the study of Gould, both for the compendious and monumental index which lists every bird or mammal figured by Gould under genera, species, and vernacular names, and for the oft-quoted and much-cited memoir of 'the bird man' whom Sharpe first met in 1862.
