granting arms for Johannes de Agoiz, issued in name of King Philip II of Spain, illuminated manuscript in Spanish on parchment [Spain (Zaragoza), dated 5 September 1592] 13 leaves (including 2 blank endleaves at front and back, but not including a white silk guard tipped in after arms), complete, single column, 20 lines in a fine Spanish italic hand, crucial words and passages in larger script, text opening with name of monarch, initials of his dominions and first 2 words of text in gold capitals, one full-page coat-of-arms: quarterly with (i) crown and 2 swords on gules, (ii) crescent moon argent on gules, (iii) diapered argent and sable, and (iv) 3 pots sable on argent, without helm but in ornate scrolling brown frame with human face at its foot, all on scrolling blue grounds within green and gold frame, some small spots, else excellent condition, 265 by 190mm., contemporary brown leather binding over pasteboards, tooled with rollstamps of foliage and small crowned or helmeted portraits enclosing gilt floral sprays, remains of 2 green ties, becoming loose in binding with book block attached only by lowest thong, scuffed and stained at edges and slightly damaged, but overall fair
