en de waarheid is Hij!" Lithograph on chine-collé, sheet size 37 x 27.5 cm, signed and dated "O. Pekela 1849" on the stone.
With several closed tears, sl. creased, stained and dam. in lower outer corner. Despite the condition, a very special copy of this rare print, because of annotations in pen by artist and printer: "Ik ondergetekende verklare te zijn de graveur en uitgever dezer plaat. 's Hage den 25 Oct. 1849 [signed:] C.F. Balkema." and "Ik ondergetekende verklare dat deze plaat op mijne steendrukkerij door mij voor rekening van den heer C.F. Balkema is gedrukt. 's Hage den 25 oct. [1849] [signed:] C.W. Mieling."; (2) Gerrit de Broen Jr. (1692-1774). "De Wet is door Mosem gegeven, de Genade ende de Waarheydt is door Jesum Christum geworden". Finely contemp. handcol. engraving, 33 x 25.5 cm, signed "G. de Broen Jun. delin. et sculps." in the plate. Marginal folds, creases and 1 small tear. Present in two differently coloured copies. And 4 others, including 1 other handcol. print (presumably by De Broen) and an engraved view in the style of Jacques Callot (total 7)
