(10 7/16 x 7 7/8in.), contemporary tree calf, spines gilt with red and green morocco labels, joints cracked, extremities slightly worn, vol. 4 faintly dampstained at front, occasional browning, minute hole in vol.3, plate LIII. 4 engraved frontispieces and 228 engraved maps, charts and plates, 53 of them folding, by J. Basire, G. Child and others after various artists. Hill, p. 210 ("...a particularly good source for Portuguese and English voyages."); Sabin 28539. Provenance : "J.H." Contemporary ink initials on each title-page -- Bruce of Kinnaird, engraved bookplate (numbered 32) and 1897 release label. (4)
