GREEN, William (publisher). Views of the Lakes. A bound collection of plates without title or text. Ambleside: William Green June 1, 1815 [watermarked 1811-14]. Oblong 4° (229 x 317mm.). 60 FINE HAND-COLOURED AQUATINT PLATES. Contemporary green straight-grained morocco, tooled in gilt and blind, g.e. (neatly rebacked, old spine laid down, slight surface damage to leather on covers). Provenance : Christopher Parker (presentation inscription to:); W.Parker (inscription); Katherine Ranger and Henry Howard (inscription). RARE. Not in Abbey. Tooley describes a tinted copy, a coloured copy (from the Bicknell Collection, King's College, Cambridge) was exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1984 (item 125, The Discovery of the Lake District .), where it was noted that the views are referred to in Green's Tourist's New Guide... , published in 1819.
