Willy Gursky war der Vater von Andreas Gursky und studierte an der HGB Leipzig 1948 - 55 in Leipzig selbständig, ab 1956 Übersiedlung nach Düsseldorf, seit Mitte der 1980er Jahre war er als vornehmlich photographischer Porträtkünstler aktiv. 2016 verstarb er.

In 2016 he passed away.
