Handwritten letter, Halachic response, signed by Rabbi Shmuel Ya’akov Kapil Ha-Cohen Av Beit Din of Kalushin, Elul 1922. The letter begins and ends with blessings of Ketiva and Chatima Tova. Sent to his son in law the Gaon Rabbi Israel Nisan, Av Beit Din of Mako, Deals with a Halachic subject, and another family related letter on the of the leaf. Rabbi Shmuel Ya’akov Kapil Ha-Cohen Kligsberg (1858-1935) of the greatest Poland rabbis, a descendant of the “Seer of Lublin”. Served as rabbi of Kalushin, Modzhitz and other places from a young age. Was appointed Rosh Av Beit Din of Lublin in 1910 and became Av Beit Din of Kalushin and the region in 1911. (More About him in the enclosed material). Hi son in law, recipient of the present letter: Rabbi Israel Nisan Kopershtoch, (1858-1930) was the brother in law of Rabbi Yechiel, first Alexander Admor. Filled the Pshischa and Mako rabbinical office for over forty years. Moved to Jerusalem in 1925, where he published his responsum “Ani Ben Pahma”. 33 cm. Poor condition, stains and moisture damages, damaged text.
