HAMMOND, W.R. (1903-65) -- A random collection of loose photographs and post-cards, comprising: (A) 16 large size press agency photographs of Hammond, one signed, most with captions on verso, including 7 of the second Test, England v. Australia, 1938 ("W.R. Hammond and D.G. Bradman toss for innings on the pitch"; "W.R. Hammond drives a ball from A.G. Chipperfield"; "Hammond hit by a rising ball from E.L. McCormick"; "The king shakes hands with the England team" etc.), 3 of Hammond embarking on and returning from the South African tour of 1938-39, 2 of Hammond with G.L. Lucas at Branlesome Golf Tournament; together with 4 other large photos. (B) 40 small size snapshots, relating to the Australian tour of 1928-29 [ (?) and later tours], one showing Hammond tossing a cricket ball while enjoying a pic-nic, dated "Busham Nov. 1928" on verso, another showing Hammond padded up in a small pavillion. (C) 11 post-cards of tour ships, many duplicates. (D) 45 post-cards of Royalty, many of Edward Prince of Wales, collected by Mrs Hammond. See illustration above and on back cover.
