James Edward Austen Leigh, Vicar of Bray, Berkshire, Jane Austen's favourite nephew and author of "The Memoir of Jane Austen", 1798-1874). "Died Ann Maria Daughter of John & Susanna Bassett July 27 Labourer By Revd J E Austen." Rev. James Edward Austen, added Leigh to his surname on inheriting property in 1836. Rev. William Brudenell Barter (1788-1858), Vicar of Burghclere and Highclere, married Sarah Sweet-Escott. Rev. Rev. Robert Speckott Barter (1790-1861), Commoner Tutor Winchester College, 1812-14; Tutor New College, Oxford. 1815-30; Bursar 1817; Sub-warden 1820; elected Warden 18 May, 1832, Rector of Greinton, Somerset 1849-61.
