Beschreibung:

134, [2] + 16 (blank memoranda pages) + [4] ad pp. Illustrated with 5 lithographed plates, including a chromolithograph frontispiece portrait of Tom Morris from a drawing by Thomas Hodge at St. Andrews, with tissue-guard, other 4 are duo-tone; plus several wood engravings throughout the text by Ranald M. Alexander. 18x12 cm (7x4¾"), decorative green cloth stamped in red, spine lettered in gilt. Presented in custom slipcase. First Edition. According to Murdoch, this book is actually a lineal descendant of Robert Chambers' A Few Rambling Remarks on Golf, but the changes and enlargement of this edition were enough to merit a change in title and its own bibliographical listing. D&J C8890; D&M 820; Murdoch 118. Plate from USGA mounted opposite title page attesting that it is a duplicate copy sold by the library of the USGA.
